What is Christmas at Dogwood?

A candlelit trail meanders through the woods, transporting you back in time. Along the journey, meet other travelers, shepherds, kings and angels. Immerse yourself in the greatest story ever told...

Open to the public from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM Central, this free event is suitable for all ages and physical abilities. More than "just another live nativity," you'll experience dramatic re-enactments, musical performances, and fellowship with others. 

What should I expect?

This event has a relaxed, family friendly atmosphere. You are invited to come and go as you please. As you walk the trail,  parts of the Christmas story are creatively told and acted out by a variety of characters from the time of Christ. You'll also come across a menagerie of live animals. The candlelit trail takes approximately 25 to 30 minutes to experience.

At the conclusion of the trail, complimentary warm beverages, hot dogs, cookies, brownies, and other refreshments are available for all to enjoy indoors at our "Christmas Coffeehouse."  Once inside the coffeehouse, feel free to sit back, relax and enjoy the sounds of local musicians, church choirs, and carolers. 

I have difficulty walking, will I still be able to experience the candlelit trail?

ABSOLUTELY! One of the overriding goals of our program is to make the Dogwood Acres experience accessible for all ages and abilities. For those needing assistance, a chauffer-driven golf cart is available so that you may enjoy the trail.

What should I wear?

If you are planning on attending, please dress appropriate for the weather. Wear sturdy walking shoes or sneakers. Bundle up if you think you might be cold walking a short trail outside on a December evening. This event is rain or shine. 

Is overnight lodging available?

Overnight lodging in our Retreat Cabins is available. Lodging cost is $14.00 per person. Children under 6 are free.

Overnight lodging is also available for RV campers in our RV and Tenting area. The cost for an RV spot with Water and Electric hookup is $6.00 per person.

 If you desire overnight lodging, an reservation in advance is recommended but not required. You may inquire about availability at anytime during the evening. If you would like to place a reservation in advance, please call (850) 535-2695. 

What is Dogwood Acres?

Dogwood Acres is a 500-acre retreat center and summer camp owned by the Presbytery of Florida. The Presbytery is comprised of 45 Presbyterian Churches located throughout the Florida Panhandle.

Throughout the year, Dogwood Acres provides overnight lodging, food service and meeting space in a wonderful natural setting, ideal for church retreats, picnics, meetings, family reunions and other special events. Our facilities are available all year and are frequently used by churches, school groups, community organizations, non-profits, and others organizations. 

During the summer months, Dogwood Acres offers exciting week long and half week overnight summer camp programs for children entering 2nd through 12th grades. Our Christ-centered summer camp programs and activities are open to all, you need not be a member of a church to participate.
