THE BARRED OWL
The Barred Owl is the official newsletter of Dogwood Acres. It is published 3 to 4 times a year. Below you can download issues of the Barred Owl in Adobe PDF format. As new issues are published, they will be uploaded here as well. If you would like to receive a copy of the barred owl in the mail, consider joining our Circle of Friends.
Sure is a strange name for a newsletter...
Dogwood Acres is home to a healthy population of Barred Owls. At night you can often hear their hooting calls which sound like someone hollering "Who Cooks For You? Who Cooks For You?" Of course that tidbit of info has nothing to do with how we came to name the newsletter. Truth be told, it just sounded like a good name for a newsletter when we got started.
Now though, the owl theme helps guide our editorial selections for articles. Each issue features a "Quill & Ink" column, where you can read the ponderings of Dogwood Acres staff members or the musings of dedicated Committee members. In "Wingspan" you'll find first-person recounts of how Dogwood Acres and outdoor ministry have impacted various folks who have made their way down Harmony Road. "Soaring" details and a colorful past, present happenings, and the future directions of this vibrant ministry. Finally, "Tailfeathers" provides a pictoral and often humorous glimpse of the Dogwood Acres Experience.
