Camp Description

Dogwood Acres Summer Camp is designed for small-group activities and occasionally to experience relationships with larger and diversified groups. The staff will work towards helping the campers to build their sense of accomplishment, gain an appreciation for others’ abilities, and help them realize what they are capable of achieving. When appropriate, we will gently encourage the campers to explore their beliefs and relationship with God. It is the goal of our outdoor ministry to provide an environment in which individuals and groups can grow in Christian faith as they experience fun, fellowship and recreation, while becoming more aware of God’s creation!

Come and enjoy Summer Camp as we navigate through these challenging times with our new “Bubble Camp” programing that allows a safer way for us to gather this summer. Cabins will be available, either as a whole or half cabin, for use by a “Bubble.” A Bubble, along with their chaperone, is a group of campers that are used to being together on a regular basis. Think, a group, or maybe several groups, from a particular church, or from a particular school or a close-knit neighborhood, etc…. A more leisurely but fun-filled summer awaits you as we help with the traditional aspects of Dogwood Acres like swimming, archery, fishing, the slingshot range, and miles of trails. We are also adding new programs that will be easy to oversee such as frisbee golf, lighted night-time volleyball, tent camping, ukulele lessons, new games, new and varied crafts, or simply extra leisure time. So put your Bubble together and join us this summer as we help you build your own adventure and make memories that will last for years to come!

“Bubble Chaperones” will experience Dogwood through a different lens. Each Bubble must be accompanied by a chaperone for their group. The chaperone will be responsible for their Bubble, including sleeping with the group in the cabin and leading simply designed programming with the help of the DWA staff. Each evening the staff will help the chaperones plan the next day’s activities by picking from a menu of things to do and scheduling those activities around what other Bubbles have planned. The chaperones will not be responsible for leading daily faith-based activities, but if they like they may work alongside the Chaplains who have that responsibility. Your focus as a chaperone will be entirely on providing a safe and fun environment for your group!

This year, Summer Camp dates are Sunday through Thursday as follows:

Sunday, July 11th – Thursday, July 15th

Sunday, July 18th – Thursday, July 22nd

Sunday, July 25th – Thursday, July 29th

Cost per Week:

Tier 1: $350 -- Tier 2: $425 -- Tier 3: $475

Why Do I See Three Prices?

Realizing that families have different abilities to pay, Dogwood Acres began offering a voluntary three-tier fee program several years ago. A family may CHOOSE the tier that is most suitable for them. It is really a “free-will” system; you tell us what is comfortable and affordable for your family. Every camper receives the same Dogwood Acres experience no matter what a family pays, and matters of payment are strictly private.

Tier 1 is the historically subsidized rate and does not reflect the true cost of operating Summer Camp. Our subsidized rates are made possible by the contributions from Presbytery churches and donations from groups, families, and friends of Dogwood Acres.

Tier 2 is the partially subsidized fee for those who can pay a little more but still cannot afford the actual cost of camp.

Tier 3 most closely accounts for the true costs of camp.

In addition, the Dogwood Acres Ministry pledges that no child will be denied Summer Camp because of money. Dogwood Acres offers limited scholarships for families in need. Interested families should contact the Director, Ben Powell, by email ( or call him at 850-528-3575. All scholarship communication will be confidential between Ben and the person making the request.

Early-Bird Discount: Campers and chaperones registering before May 1, will receive a $15 credit to the Trading Post.

Sibling Discount: Siblings attending Summer Camp will receive a $10 camper fee discount.
